Wokingham & Emmbrook full back Ben Winship broke just over a two year goal drought on Saturday when he scored during the Sumas 8-0 win over Thame Rangers at Lowther Road.
Winship’s last senior goal was on Saturday 21st November 2015 for Finchampstead – who he’d played for since the 2009/10 season until the summer – in the 3-2 Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East defeat to Bicester Town in which Winship was a substitute.
The full back scored the Sumas eighth of the afternoon with Josh Pearson (3), Jordan Blake, Elliott Rushforth, Sam Lawrence and James Charlton also scoring as Wokingham moved up to fifth and ended a run of two defeats.
Following the strike, Winship’s former captain at Finchampstead Adam Barnard tweeted: ‘Shut the front door, did he knee slide?’ following a tweet of the goal by @wokingham_sumas.

The drought lasted 750 days or 18,000 hours, in which time Adam Barnard has been sent off twice, Finchampstead frustratingly lost their place in the Hellenic League, Matt Wright scored three times and Danny Blatchford made the papers.
