Bracknell Town chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse has unveiled ambitious plans that will see the club formalise it’s link with Ranelagh School which is based a short walk from the Robins current ground.
The club have used the school’s playing fields for their junior sides for nearly a decade and now – in conjunction with the school, will put a planning application before Bracknell Forest Council to build a multi-sport complex on the site.
Mr Steinborn-Busse has confirmed that the club and school had submitted a pre-planning application to Bracknell Forest Council who were supportive of the concept.
The plan is to build an educational facility that will house the Bracknell Town youth teams and a full application will be submitted in December. It will include:

- Two 3G pitches – one for football one for rugby
- Three netball courts
- Multi sport cage

- Two classrooms
- Changing facilities

- Coffee Shop
What’s happening to Larges Lane?
We chatted to Mr Steinborn-Busse and the Bracknell chairman spoke about the clubs recently refurbished and highly regarded 3G ground which reopened in November 2016. He said: “The current ground remains as it is and the first team will continue to play there. This new application is a sporting complex for education and youth sport.”
The Bracknell chairman spoke about the proposal and the deal with the school which has been based on it’s Larges Lane site since 1908, and talked about the support the plan had received.
He said: “The Ranelagh governors and the Oxford Diocese unanimously supported the plan which will grow the football clubs sporting offering to include netball, rugby, mixed sports and athletics under our club umbrella.
“The aim is to create a broader sporting group, the facility is a scaled down version of Bisham Abbey and subject to planning we hope will be in operation by 2019.”
What’s the Oxford Diocese?
Ranelagh School is a Church of England School, which is overseen in Berkshire by the Oxford Diocese.
The church’s website says: “The Diocese of Oxford is the administrative area of the Church of England that, broadly speaking, covers the three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. It covers 2,200 square miles – and much the same area as Thames Valley Police.”
