It’s going to be worth taking a few extra minutes to plan your journey this weekend if you are going to be using the M4 motorway for your footballing travels at the weekend.

This is because, courtesy of our friends at Get Reading we’ve been made aware that the motorway connecting London to the West of England will be closed both direction between junctions 13 (Newbury) and 12 (Theale/Reading/IKEA) from Friday night right through to Monday morning.

The closure will effect players and supporters of Bracknell Town headed to Brimscombe & Thrupp and Highmoor-IBIS at Longlevens in the Hellenic Premier and Woodley United’s trip to Wantage Town Reserves in Division 1 East.

The closure is one of four full weekend shutdowns before June, but the one covering Friday, March 31, to Monday, April 3 is the only one that will likely impact the football season.

Get Reading reports that drivers are advised a diversion will be in place via the A4 through Newbury, Thatcham and Woolhampton.’

If you are using the M4 for football or any other activity at the weekend, do give yourselves a bit of extra time!
