Neil Richards saw his new Ascot United charges win their first game in 12 matches and a place in the quarter finals of the 2016/17 Reading Senior Cup.
It was Richards first game in charge after two postponements since taking over from Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty over the festive period, and the match could not have gone much better – with a clean sheet to boot.
United were 3-0 up at half time scoring in the 12th and 32nd minute, as well as just before the break with the strikes coming from Louie Gilpin, Louis Bouwers and Leigh Begham.

Going in to the weekend, Richards faces a much sterner test when he takes the Yellamen to Wiltshire and 9th placed Royal Wootton Bassett Town – Bassett were 3-1 victors at the start of January in McGrotty and Lamb’s final game in charge.
Elsewhere on Tuesday night, there was despair at Fleet as Sandhurst Town’s visit was postponed very late in the day.
