After last week’s disappointing defeat despite playing well Wokingham & Emmbrook were looking forward to this fixture and the chance to get some points on the board away to Chinnor who the previous week had beaten local rivals Finchampstead.
Also the team welcomed new signing Ashley East in goal for his Senior debut having represented the club in his younger days .
In testing conditions for an August Saturday Wokingham made a good start and within a couple of minutes Haylett broke free but scuffed his shot wide when one on one with the keeper.
Despite dominating much of the opening 25 minutes it was Chinnor who nearly scored when a couple of good efforts were spurned and on the break Wheeler set up Haylett who this time burst through , rounded the keeper and finished well from a tight angle.

Shortly after it was Haylett again who forced a good save from the keeper , but causing the home defence problems Haylett received the ball just outside the box, turned well and drilled a shot into the bottom corner that gave the sumas a 2-0 half time lead.

The second half was more even with tackles coming thick and fast and as a result Skidmore was on the receiving end of a strong challenge that resulted in him being withdrawn and replaced by Josh Pearson.
With both teams creating chances in particular Chinnor who were looking to get back in the game the final 20 minutes was end to end. The crucial next goal came from Assistant Manager Darren Thorne (pictured above) who headed home after an in-swinging corner was headed off the line . With the game drawing to close, after hitting the bar Chinnor got a deserved goal but the final score saw the sumas take all 3 points in a 3-1 away victory .
Next up two away games to Sandhurst and Holyport on Saturday 27th and Monday 29th respectively.
