Following a pretty decent pre season the Wokingham & Emmbrook were looking forward to this opening fixture but always knew it would be a tough encounter playing a higher League Club’s reserve side with many of the Reserve team players looking to impress.
However, Wokingham made a good start and dominated much of the opening 30 minutes but shortly after conceded against the run of play and despite overall creating several chances the half time score was 1-0 to the Home team.

The second half was more of the same and the Sumas deservedly equalized when good work by Craig Haylett set up Ben Findlay who levelled the score at 1-1. Shortly after, and as in the first half Didcot Reserves restored their lead and despite the Sumas pressing and hitting the bar resolute defending from Didcot saw two chances cleared off the line and hold on for an opening 2-1 victory to the hsts .
Overall whilst a good performance if the Sumas are to challenge they will need to be more clinical in front of goal but nevertheless lots of positives to take away from the game against strong opposition.
Next up away to Chinnor who also opened with a win against local rivals Finchampstead.
