A league debut and a 100 odd mile round trip weren’t enough to put off Bracknell Town under 21s who defeated Berkhamstead 3-0 in the Suburban League Central Division 1 openener.
A further boost for Robins boss Liam Day was the form of young attacker Dan Roberts who had a hand in all three goals, providing for Connor Thorndike, Leigh Allen and William Kyeremeh.
The Robins opener came after good work by Robert who’s shot was followed up by Thorndike to score, and he setup debutant Allen for the second after beating two defenders.
Bracknell’s third came again through Roberts skills as he beat the back line again, laying the ball in to Kyeremeh who was fouled in the penalty box, but the youngster dusted himself off to score.
It didn’t quite go to plan for Premier Division Binfield Reserves who’s long trip to Kent was without reward, going down 4-0 to Corinthian Reserves.
Ellis Woods had seen a number of players called up to the first team including player/assistant manager Matt Davies but was delighted to have been able to name twelve players of sixteen who have come through from the Binfield youth ranks at one stage or another.
