Bracknell Town goalkeeper Mark Scott has announced on twitter that he will be playing for Beaconsfield Town next season. The former Slough Town shotstopper has played dozens of games for the Robins over the past four seasons and has been a popular figure amongst the Bracknell supporters.

Perhaps Scott’s defining moment for Bracknell came against Westfield at Larges Lane where he hit a long clearance upfield only for the ball to end in the Westfield net. Did he mean it? Does it matter? It was an iconic moment for the Bracknell goalkeeper.

Scott will join former Ascot United and Bracknell Town striker Nathan Minhas at the Buckinghamshire club. Beaconsfield finished 17th in the Southern League Premier South this season and play in the league Bracknell Town could be promoted into next season.

Bracknell boss Wilkinson has wasted no time in finding a replacement for Scott with former Marlow keeper Simon Grant and regular number 1 Michael Eacott signed on for next season’s Step 3 challenge.

I know it’s not right for Football in Berkshire to have favourites, but Mark Scott has recovered from serious injuries to come back playing at a really good level of football. It’s such an inspirational story to see just how much he enjoys the sport. Good luck to Mark at his new club.
