Bracknell Town made it two Berks & Bucks Cup successes in three seasons as Bobby Wilkinson lifted silverware in only his second match back in charge of the Robins. They came from behind to defeat a spirited Flackwell Heath side from Step 4.
Victory came the hard way. They trailed after five minutes when the prolific Wiktor Makowski gave the Heathens the lead. Flackwell came close to doubling their lead, Michael Harding twice denied by Michael Leacott in the Bracknell goal before a crucial near post block by Ethan Burden kept out Makowski.
The pendulum in this match swung towards Bracknell with the 40th minute introduction of Gabe George from the bench – later voted Player of the Match, George scored twice and assisted another as the Robins rose to the occasion. His instinctive strike from inside the box minutes before the break levelled things up.
Before the hour Bracknell led. George broke from midfield and beat the onrushing Heathens goalkeeper Carl Dennison to the ball to allow Jordan Esprit to slide home on the goal line.
The match was sewn up by George with twenty minutes left despite the best efforts of Dennison and the final margin could have been wider had Dan Roberts made the most of a hat-trick of late chances.
