FC Fernhill and Bearwood Wanderers through to Bracknell Sunday League Cup Semi-Finals

Tony Hardy rounds up what’s left of the weekends Sunday League action

Its been another weather affected weekend for the Bracknell Sunday League that’s seen only 8 games survive postponement. All Bracknell Town Council pitches together with those at Cantley Park, St Crispins School and Locks Ride were declared unfit for play and closed for football causing further mayhem to the League’s fixture programme.

Of those to survive Newbold beat Sandhurst FFC 3-0 to make it through to the 4th round of the County Junior Cup whilst Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves joined Hope & Anchor in the 4th round of the County Junior Trophy 2with a 2-0 away win at Windsor Corinthians.

The first of this seasons League Cup semi-finalists are FC Fernhill who won through in the Senior Cup by 3-2 against Woodley Saints whilst Bearwood Wanderers beat Running Horse 4-1 in the Junior Cup.

In Division 1 leaders Athletico Ascot were held to a 2-2 draw by 3rd placed Woodley United. Ascot stay top and lead 2nd placed Crowthorne FC by 2 points but have played 2 games more. Woodley United moved into 3rd level on points with Woodley Saints with a better goal difference.

The only other two league games to be played saw Ashridge Park beat Bracknell Spartans by 4-1 (Daniel Merrit 2 and Stu Charlwood on the scoresheet for Park) in Division 3, moving them up one place into 4th place above Spartans. Elsewhere, in division 4, Finchampstead Athletic A defeated Bracknell Athletic U21’s by 8-2 moving them up 3 positions into 3rd. Finch’s goal-scorers were Basher (3), Hall (2), Horton (2) and Cowley-Ellis
