Women’s Football Weekend didn’t quite work out for Reading FC Women in the way they planned as Bristol City spoiled the party at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday.
The 1,420 in attendance though certainly got value for money though and it all started so well as the Royals raced to a 2-0 lead as Remi Allen calmly fired home in a one on one with Sophie Baggaley in the visitors goal on 17 minutes, and a minute later Brooke Chaplen rounded the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
The City fans had a few songs in their repertoire and got to perform one of the cleverer songs ‘Well in Charlie’ when Charlie Wellings made it 2-1 on 38 minutes.

Reading raced out after half time with Angharad James heading home to make it 3-1 but Yana Daniels and then Ebony Salmon, who’s paced had been a persistant thorn in the Royals side all afternoon made it 3-3 with seven minutes left.
City had to weather a storm in the final minutes as Reading pushed hard for a winner but will undoubtedly feel frustrated, though Bristol were deserving of the point at the end of an entertaining game.
