On a night when both sides finished with 10 men, it was Binfield who made it count against title chasing Wantage Town at Hill Farm Lane.
The Moles were 3-1 winners in a Monday Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division clash with an own goal and one apiece for Ian Davies and Danny Horscroft enough to claim the points.
The opener came for Binfield when Chris Jackson sliced the ball in to his own net after 10 minutes but the visitors were level 10 minutes later through Steve Robertson.
Prior to half time Wantage we’re down to ten men when Ryan Markham was sent off, and they were 2-1 down when Ian Davies, back from suspension, netted in injury time.
In the second half it was Horscroft who popped up for his second goal in as many games to seal the points on 68 minutes, but it wasn’t all good news for Roger Herridge’s side who had Charley Tuttle sent off for a second booking in the final 20 minutes.
Binfield now face Ardley United on Friday night at Hill Farm Lane. Before that though there’s a few Tuesday night fixtures to get through here.
Elsewhere Wokingham & Emmbrook we’re beaten 2-1 by Holyport in the Subsidary Cup. Josh Harris scored a fine free kick to give the Sumas hope at 2-0 down but the visitors maintain their position at the top of the group thanks to goals from Fabian Driffill and Chris Defranco.
