It was a goal-fest at Bulmershe Pavilions as Woodley United Ladies shared 10 goals with AFC Bournemouth CST in the Southern Region Women’s League Premier Division.
The two sides shared seven of the goals in the first half as United took a 3-1 lead through Rosie Page-Smith on two minutes and 13 minutes. The visitors pulled one back but Maddie Sawyer hit a 25 yard screamer to restore the two goal cushion on 21 minutes.
That didn’t last long as Bournemouth replied two minutes later and had the lead just before the break as they levelled on 32 minutes and lead on 45 minutes.
Ellen Surtees hit an 82nd minute free kick to put the Kestrels in sight of a point but two late goals for Bournemouth gave the division’s second placed side the three points.
It was a rain-affected afternoon in women’s football but that didn’t stop Wokingham & Emmbrook earning a 7-1 home win over Isle of Wight side Shanklin.
In the Thames Valley Women’s League Plate Ascot United Reserves lost 4-3 at home to Taplow United Blues in the only local women’s game to beat the weather.
