Bracknell Sunday League side FC Fernhill have chance at treble

Football in Bracknell understands that FC Fernhill made it through to the Final of the Aldershot Cup today beating FC Fleet on penalties 5-4 after the game finished 0-0.

That gives Fernhill a tilt at a treble this season after making an unaccustomed slow start to this campaign as excellent form since December sees them in a strong 3rd position in the Premier Division with games in hand. Fernhill will also contest the Final of the League Senior Cup in a couple of week’s time when their opponents will be Golden Framer Rangers.

Premier Division

This coming midweek sees Fernhill play twice. First up, on Tuesday, the opposition is 2nd placed Finchampstead Athletic and on Thursday evening travel to play FC Meta before the big showdown with top team Crowthorne Inn next Sunday. Three tough games ahead in such a short space of time would be a tall order for any, but Fernhill are a champion-team and three wins will see them top the league this time next week.

Division 1

Today’s big game in the division saw the top two of WAB and Raglan slug-out a 5-5 draw that leaves WAB top with one to play and Raglan in 2nd with 3 to play but trail WAB by 3 points. Elsewhere, AFC Crowthorne beat Hurricanes by 8-4 and move into 5th place.

Raglan play twice in midweek with games against Sandhurst FFC (Tuesday) and Ashridge Park (Thursday). A win in both will make them firm favourites to lift the title. Elsewhere Loveman United play twice with games against Hurricanes (Tuesday) and Sandhurst FFC (Thursday) and will look to finish their season strongly and put behind them what has proved to be a disappointing second half to the season.

Division 2

Warfield United moved back to the top of Division 2 with a fine 2-1 win against in-form AFC Crowthorne Reserves. Warfield top Woodley United by 1 point (Woodley didn’t play). Both have played 16 games (4 each to play) and Warfield have a better goal difference of 6. Just 4 points separate the top 4 and, despite today’s defeat, Crowthorne remain firmly in contention, as do 3rd placed Athletico Ascot, each with 3 to play.

Midweek sees a number of fixtures that will have an important bearing on league positions:

Tuesday: 3M v. Athletico Ascot, AFC Crowthorne Res v. Woodley United and Ashridge Park Royals v. Warfield United

Thursday: Ashridge Park Royals v. AFC Crowthorne Res, Athletico Ascot v. 3M, Berks County v. Warfield United and Bracknell Saint Germain v. Woodley United

Division 3

Woodley Saints lost the chance to wrap up the league title by losing out by 1-4 to close challengers Bracknell Corinthians who, with that win, made their own huge statement so far as their title credentials are concerned. Second placed Silver Birch beat Hope & Ancho2 2-1 whilst WAB Reserves slipped to 4th with defeat against Winnersh Town (4-5). Saints still head the table by 6 points from both Birch and Corinthians though the latter have two games in hand.

The big midweek fixture sees Bracknell Corinthians take on Silver Birch (Tuesday)

Division 4

Silver Birch A lost the chance to go top following a shock 3-4 defeat to Whitegrove Pythons and slip to 3rd. In a topsy-turvy campaign, Bracknell Royals played their last league game of their campaign and a 7-2 win against Bracknell Titans saw them re-take top spot.

Two wins from their remaining two games for Birch, both at home (FC Harmanswater on Thursday and Crownwood Dukes next Sunday will give them the title. Any slip ups could hand Finchampstead Athletic A the title who play theiur last game against Bracknell Titans next Sunday.
