FA Vase results: Thatcham Town FC are going to Wembley

Keith Pennicott-Bowen and Shane Cooper-Clark are going to the FA Vase FInal

What an achievement for Thatcham Town, the Kingfishers are going to Wembley after winning the second leg of their FA Vase semi final 3-2.

They beat 1874 Northwich 4-2 over two legs and will head to the national stadium for the final on Sunday 20th May. The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

Thatcham will face Teesside side Stockton Town in the final after the Northern League side beat Marske United 3-2 on aggregate.

In Saturday’s second leg, Gavin James scored twice and Shane Cooper-Clark for the other as Thatcham raced to a 3-0 lead but it was a nervy end to the game as the hosts fought back with two of their own.

Assistant manager Keith Pennicott-Bowen said in an interview with Football in Bracknell before the game that Thatcham had to hold their nerve and the Berkshire side certainly did that.

Congratulations to everyone at Thatcham from FiB, enjoy the celebrations and a shot at the £30,000 prize money!
