Woodley Saints through in County Cup and all the Bracknell Sunday League action

Congratulations to Woodley Saints on today winning through to the quarter-final stage of the County Junior Trophy by beating Whitley Athletic 6-3. Woodley’s goals were scored by Jamie Burnett (3), Simon Johnson (2) and Tom Spesh. The win means that the Bracknell Sunday League have representation at the quarter-final stage in each of the County’s three Sunday cup competitions. Saints have yet to find out who their opposition will be in their quarter-final tie scheduled for Sunday 25th February.

Premier Division

FC Meta closed the gap on Crowthorne Inn at the top of the Division to 5 points with an emphatic 6-1 win away at bottom team Wokingham & Emmbrook. William Twigg Vets lost ground following their 1-3 defeat to FC Fernhill. Those results mean that Meta now occupy 2nd position with a game in hand over Crowthorne and Twigg slip to 3rd. Finchampstead Athletic occupy 4th position after a 3-3 draw with Morale Madrid and Fernhill remain in 5th after their latest win. The other game played saw Bracknell Cavaliers and Golden Farmer Rangers draw 2-2.

Division 1

Loveman United (2nd) suffered a shock 1-5 defeat at the hands of 10th placed Ashridge Park. Third placed Raglan closed to within 4 points of Loveman after they were awarded a walkover against Hurricanes. WAB, who didn’t play, remain 13 points clear at the top of the division.

Division 2

Postponement of the top of the table clash between the United’s of Warfield and Woodley gave the chasing pack the opportunity to close the gap and each of the 3rd, 4th and 5th placed teams all won with Athletico Ascot winning away at Bracknell Saint Germain by 2-0, Berks Countyby 5-1 away at Braybrooke Athletic and AFC Crowthorne Reserves by 4-1 at home to Bracknell Athletic. Woodley United remain top and clear of Warfield by 1 point.

Division 3

The one game played in the Division saw Silver Birch beat Hope & Anchor 4-1. The win moves Birch up by one position into 6th and with games in hand over all teams above them are now well-placed to move up the table and challenge possibly for a top 3 finish.

Division 4

It’s all change at the top of the division with Finchampstead Athletic A taking advantage of Silver Birch A’s postponement to move top with a hard-fought 5-3 victory against Whitegrove Pythons. Third placed Bracknell Royals kept in touch with the leaders with a 6-2 win against FC Harmanswater whilst Bracknell Titans stay bottom following a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves who move up one place above Crownwood Dukes who didn’t play.
