Are you passionate about writing? Creating video? Grassroots, non-league and women’s football? So are we!
Football in Berkshire is looking to increase the number of contributors on the site to help us continue to grow, as the community grows around the county.
Whether you want to focus on something specific, a competition, a team, an area, learn new skills or figure it all out later, Football in Berkshire would love to hear from you.
Writing on Twitter, co-editor Tom Canning said: “We have had a great year, made a load of new friends and as ever would love to try and expand our contributor base for next season. Video, reports, interviews, whatever. We’d love to hear from you.
“We currently have about seven regular contributors covering all levels of the non-league and women’s game but we’d love to continue to grow. Everyone does a bit of everything but there’s plenty of opportunities to develop some new skills and become part of a great community.
“You’ll be able to speak to managers, players, report on games through our social channels and really get stuck in. Then there’s the reality that your work will go in front of 20,000 people every month.
“I will add, this is a volunteer operation. We’ve been running, supporting grassroots football since 2016 and are eager to improve every aspect of what we do. Our DMs are open.”
Abi Ticehurst
In the summer of 2020, Abi Ticehurst joined the team and has become influential in growing the profile of women’s football across the county. She said: “It’s not really an understatement when I say that Football in Berkshire has been a real lifesaver for me. A real tragic point in my life was eased by getting involved in local football and writing for FiB was and continues to be, both a release and escape.
“It continues to be a huge honour and pleasure to write about women’s football and give it the much needed platform it deserves. Its opened up so many other avenues in the football world and it’s all at your own pace. And last but not least, I’ve met and made pals with so many brilliant people in the local football community as a result too!”
Rob Davies
Rob Davies after joining the team in 2018: “This has been my first season writing for Football in Berkshire and I have really enjoyed the experience. It has been really good to gain a greater knowledge of local football whilst going to games and meeting some of the people involved.
“Before joining FiB I had no experience of published writing so it has been gratifying to develop a new skill and try something new whilst becoming part of a local community. The support from Tom and the rest of the team has made the process fun-filled and pressure-free.”
