Midweek: Ascot United FC bow out and extra time winner for Woodley United FC

Ascot United are out of the 2016/17 Emirates FA Cup following a heartbreaking 7-0 defeat at Kent side Tonbridge Angels.

The Berkshire side gave the Ryman Premier title chasers a real scare on Sunday when two goals from Charlie Samuels ensured the Yellamen – two divisions below the Angels – had another crack at it on Tuesday night.

It was already a record breaking FA Cup run for Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty’s side who beat Milton United and Didcot Town to go further than they have been before in six seasons of entering the famous old competition.

The Yellamen have gone further than any step 5 Berkshire side in the competition this season but to add insult to injury, Ryan Britnall was sent off by the referee with 10 minutes of the game remaining.

Elsewhere Woodley United were involved in 120 minutes of Hellenic League Floodlit Cup football against Sandhurst Town at Scours Lane.

United were ahead twice through Charlie Oakley but each time Sandhurst hit back – the biggest kick being the injury time equaliser from the Fizzers but new boy Danny Horscroft settled things in the second half of extra time to give Woodley a 3-2 win.
