As we head into 2026, it’s time to acknowledge Football in Berkshire turns 10 on the 16th March.
To celebrate, we want to create the biggest list of Berkshire football icons on and off the pitch across the last 10 years we’ve been covering the game.
We’re targeting 100 names of people, players, managers, volunteers and even paid employees who’ve stood out as making an impact on their club, shaped the game and those around them in Berkshire for the last 10 years.
In the lead-up to a special celebration evening on the 16th we’re planning in Reading, we’d love your contributions in the form below.
The aim is to hit 100 names from the men’s and women’s game for this project, and we’ll publish them all in the build up to the big day.
What does a good contribution look like?
A good contribution would include the name of the person and their associated club. It would then include a short description of around 50 words or so (a short paragraph) explaining why you consider the person an icon and their lasting impact on the club. You can submit as many icons as you like.
For example: Jane Bloggs (Village FC) – Jane is an icon of VFC as she lives and breathes our club, she’s sorting the admin and marking out pitches every week. Jane’s impact will be felt for generations as campaigned for and won funding to improve our pavillion and pitches, meaning we now have 100s of girls and boys playing football every weekend on the rec.
