Boost their chances:

Mark Bradley is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Clive McNelly Volunteer of the Season sponsored by Supporters Trust at Reading.

2025 promises to be another highly competitive year for this award!

The nomination we received for the Volunteer of the Year award said: “It’s a real pleasure to write this here and recognize someone who truly embodies the spirit of Cookham. Our vote for the Volunteer of the Season award goes to a person who’s not just been a helping hand, but the heartbeat behind so many things that keep this place running smoothly.

“Mark Bradley – our brilliant Club Secretary – who has been with us for about seven years now, and in that time, he’s become absolutely indispensable. He’s the kind of person who steps up before anyone even asks. From managing the Under 13s with commitment and care, to handling the endless behind-the-scenes admin work that keeps our teams ticking, Mark gives his all.

“But it doesn’t stop there. If you’ve ever grabbed a drink at the bar after a game, Mark’s probably been the one pulling pints. If you’ve played on a decent pitch, he’s likely had a hand in keeping it that way. And if the changing rooms are looking freshly painted? Yep – that’s Mark too.

“He’s first in, last out, and never asks for thanks – which is exactly why he deserves it all the more.

“Mark, on behalf of everyone at Cookham, thank you for everything you do. Your time, your energy, your passion for this club – it doesn’t go unnoticed.”

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Yes! The awards are taking place at the marvellous Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading and we’ll have food available. Tickets will be limited but on sale from 28th May. If you’d like to know when, so you don’t miss out, make sure you’ve signed up to our email newsletter here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.

What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2024/25 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.

Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.

Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 26th May 2025.

The Long List will be published on Wednesday 28th May and the Short List on Friday 30th May.

Once the nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 18th June.

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
