Windsor face a daunting trek through the Costwolds on the opening day of the Hellenic League Premier season. Their destination will be Hereford, for a game at Westfields FC.
It will be the Herefordshire based club’s first season in the Hellenic League after they were moved in the summer from the Midland League.
Westfields have made some impressive signings over the summer, but perhaps none as interesting as the signing of Welsh international defender Ryan Green.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall defender spent much of his career at Hereford United amassing over 400 matches for the club. Green is considered a legend at Hereford and enjoyed a testimonial match in his honour this summer.
Wales debut
Green made his Wales debut as a 17 year old against Malta, breaking Ryan Giggs’ record as the youngest Welsh international. Green went on to make only one more appearance for Wales in a friendly against Tunisia.
Ryan Green’s record has been broken since, with Lewin Nyatanga, Gareth Bale and now Harry Wilson at 16 years and 226 days younger than Green when he made his international debut.

It has now been twenty years since Green played international football, but he’s clearly a man with plenty of experience. Windsor themselves had international footballer Barry Hayles on their books last season and know how a little bit of experience can help – the former Fulham striker is now on the coaching staff at Melksham Town.
Westfields face Windsor in the Hellenic League Premier Division on 3rd August 2019.
