Charlotte Pilling nominated for Referee Award

Being a referee is a thankless task really isn’t it? No matter what you do there will be someone who disagrees with what you did.

And let’s face it, we’ve all been that person!

That’s why the Referee of the Season category at the EPC Bracknell Football Awards is one of the most important to us, whether it’s a young ref like last years winner Ollie Kaya or an old hand like ‘Barry the Book’.

So it’s brilliant we have received a couple of nominations for a young referee who’s already stepped out of her comfort zone. Meet 14-year-old Charlotte Pilling.

Of the nominations one simply said: “Promising young female Referee”

While another more detailed nomination said: “Brand new referee. 14 years old. Already doing Academy games. Second game in pushing to step up to u13. Had strength of courage to step up to do an u14 game for Reading v Brighton when referee didn’t turn up. Serious potential. One for the future with a passion to be the best she can.”

Is Charlotte your Referee of the Season? Or are there others we should be talking about? Get your votes in for Charlotte and any other nominations for the Bracknell Football Awards in the form below. You can find out about all the categories here.
