It must seem like an absolute age for the players, supporters, volunteers and management of both Ascot United and Windsor since their last competitive fixture, two weeks in fact since they both played on Bank Holiday Monday 22nd April.
That wait is almost over now with both sides going head to head in the final of the Bluefin Sport Hellenic League Challenge Cup at Ardley United on Monday afternoon (3pm).
The two sides finished the 36 game Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season within three points of each other, Ascot in 7th on 57 points and Windsor in 6th on 60.
It should be a close game that will ultimately see the trophy back in Berkshire for the third season in a row after Bracknell won back to back trophies between 2017 and 2018.
Anyway, you came here for team news, so here goes!
Ascot United
Manager Jamie Tompkins was speaking to Football in Bracknell on Sunday. He said: “We’ve looking forward to the game tomorrow and we have a full squad fit and available except for Elliott Carey who is suspended.”
He added: “Hoping the final is well attended and a good atmosphere for both sides.”
Windsor
Speaking at the same time, Royalists boss Mick Woodham said: “Team news for Monday is a straight forward one, we are at full strength! No injuries and no suspensions to worry about. I am excited about the challenge ahead!”
Woodham added that top scorers Dan Roberts would be with Windsor for the final. He said: “Dan is cup tied for the Berks & Bucks County Cup Final between Slough Town and Reading at Larges Lanes today so he is with us .”
The final kicks off at 3pm at Ardley United’s Nolan Oils Ground. Read Football in Bracknell’s guide to the ground here.
