As most of you will well know by now, Football in Bracknell is a project for Darrell and myself with the aim of promoting non league and grassroots football in Bracknell and the surrounding area.

We do this as a ‘not for profit’ venture and is something we love doing along with Tony Hardy and Steve Gabb who have both contributed significantly during the last year to the coverage we’ve been able to offer.

Our primary focus has and will continue to be Bracknell Town, Binfield, the Bracknell Sunday League and the clubs locally to us as BUT we would love to do more. We’d love to cover step 6 and 7 in more depth, more junior football and we’d love to bring you more ladies football news.

With that in mind, we are looking for people to contribute to the site on a regular basis. Specifically we’d like anyone to drop us a line if they’d be interested in covering the following:

  • Hellenic League Division 1 East
  • Combined Counties League
  • Thames Valley Premier League
  • SRWFL and TVCWFL women’s leagues

What is required?

No experience is necessary but a basic understanding of spelling and grammar would be excellent as well as the willingness to learn from us. We are looking for a minimum commitment of 1 article a week – be that a preview, a review or whatever comes out of your mind on the subject you are focusing on.

We will provide full guidance on the type of content we are looking for as well as a style guide and anything else you need.

Will I get paid? Why would I do this?

Unfortunately this is a purely voluntary role. We are looking for anyone who is interested in writing or blogging and has an interest in sports journalism. Submissions can be used as part of a portfolio or just as a hobby. We can provide full analytics on how well your content performed.

Nervous? Don’t be. We’re very pleasant really!

How do I apply?

You can apply by emailing Tom Canning at editor@footballinbracknell.co.uk with the subject ‘Write for FiB’. So that we can gauge where we can support you we’d ask that you provide a minimum 300 word article on your local club that could be published on Football in Bracknell.
