Binfield Football Club have announced the launch of a new senior ladies team for the forthcoming 2017/18 season.
The Moles are one of the few clubs locally without a senior ladies side at present but have from August applied to have a senior adult team and an under 18’s side in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.
If accepted Binfield will join the likes of Sandhurst Town and Bracknell Town in the league. Other local clubs – Ascot United, Bracknell’s first team and Woodley United play a step higher in the Southern Region Women’s Football League.
Management
Binfield’s adult side will be managed by Tom Canning who joins the Moles having spent three years running Bracknell’s Ladies Reserves while Steve Rushin’s under 16 side will make the step up to under 18’s football with his girls side.
Glenn Duggleby, Binfield’s Club Resource Development Manager and man in charge of the current Hill Farm Lane development said: “I’m delighted we’re able to offer another women’s team in the area which will encourage one of the fastest growing areas of the game.
“We have had enquiries over the last couple of seasons from mums and siblings in our membership so we see this being very well supported.”
