Bracknell Sunday League looking to welcome under 21 sides

The Bracknell Town & District Sunday League is just under a month from kick-off and the long-running competitions committee are looking to add under 21s sides to boost the divisions team complement.

We spoke to chairman Keith Thomas at the end of last week following the high profile withdrawal of Sunday League Cup winners Sunningdale & Wentworth and he said to us that the club had fielded several enquiries from under 21s sides without a league to compete in.

Keith said: “We are looking at bringing in several under 21 sides that were in the East Berkshire Youth Football League last season. It seems the EBYFL are not running and under 21s division this season so if there are clubs that would like to compete then we would welcome enquiries.”

While specifically focusing on younger sides, the very well run league, we suspect would accept enquiries from clubs of all ages to bolster it’s four division competition.

It’s worth noting that the league are not short of clubs, each of the four divisions has at least eleven sides competing even after the withdrawal of Sunningdale – but the lack of a division in the EBYFL appears to be a good opportunity to boost a league already in rude health.

The Bracknell Town & District Sunday League has been in existence for over five decades in the town and has provided football for 1,000s of players. It also boasts it’s own ex-pro in current Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth who regularly turns out for Finchampstead Athletic Sunday first team.
