Bracknell Town confirm interim manager is ex-boss and striker

Bracknell Town have confirmed their interim manager following the departure of Matthew Saunders on Friday morning.

Ex-boss and former Robins striker Carl Davies will return to the dugout, according to a statement put out by the club: “The club can confirm former club captain and player manager Carl Davies will step into the role of interim manager ahead of Sunday’s FA Trophy clash against Banbury United.”

Davies previously led the side between February and November 2018 after the departure of Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty. During that spell, Davies led Bracknell back to Step 4 and won the Hellenic League Cup.

Saunders departure on Friday came in the aftermath of a 6-1 defeat to Gosport Borough in the Southern League Premier Division.

A statement by the club said: “After discussions this morning between the first team manager and the club owner, Matt has resigned as the manager of Bracknell Town FC. Matt wants to thank everyone for their support and wishes all associated with the club the best for the future. The club extends its gratitude to Matt for his contributions and also wishes him all the best for the future.”
