Bracknell Town manager Matthew Saunders resigns

Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town have announced manager Matthew Saunders has resigned.

The Robins appointed Saunders in mid-September following the departure of Jordan Ive. The new boss won his first game in charge, the FA Cup tie with Tadley Calleva, but was unable to turn around the clubs Southern League form.

A statement released by the club on social media said: “After discussions this morning between the first team manager and the club owner, Matt has resigned as the manager of Bracknell Town FC. Matt wants to thank everyone for their support and wishes all associated with the club the best for the future. The club extends its gratitude to Matt for his contributions and also wishes him all the best for the future.”

Bracknell’s cup form saw them progress in the FA Trophy, beating Hungerford Town 6-3, but despite a reshaping of the squad, Saunders side only picked up one point from a possible 18 in the league. He was in charge of Bracknell for 10 games.

The Robins face Banbury United at home in the Trophy on Sunday 26th October (3pm)
