At the launch of Windsor & Eton FC men’s team at the start of the 2023/24 season, co-chair Mark Cooper revealed an ambition to launch the town’s first women’s team.

That ambition is closer to being made real with the appointment of a manager and management team aiming to build a squad for 24/25.

Mark Cooper, co-chair at Stag Meadow, commented, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of the women’s section. This was always a big aim of mine from the day we built this club. There is some incredible footballing talent in Windsor, but any women who have been keen to play have had to travel to Slough, Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Ascot and so forth. Now, they’ll have the opportunity to represent their home-town.”

The Royalists have appointed Cathy Corr as boss at Stag Meadow, with Adam Romney joining as Assistant Manager and Lyndsey Tomlinson as Head Coach.

A statement on the club website also confirmed a further aim: “Currently, we have three girls sides and our longer-term goal is to have at least one girls team in every age group from under 7s through to the senior women’s side.”

Windsor have published a full interview with the new manager on the club website and are actively recruiting players for next season.
