Reading FC Women announced that Kelly Chambers will depart the club, Chambers released her own statement.

“Just a little message…Wow, this is an emotional day.

I have made an extremely difficult decision to step away from the club that has been my life and become my family over the last 20 years.

I am extremely proud of what I have done and achieved at the club. To continuing to build a successful youth pathway to building a professional first team to compete in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Thank you to the club for putting trust in me and giving me the platform to be able to build and achieve the things I have and make this team as successful as it could be.

I can not thank the staff I have worked with enough for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the club, myself, each other and the players to make sure that every year we competed with the best. You guys have become more than just work, we become a family and one that I will never forget!

Thank you to EVERY single player that I have worked with and what you have given to the club and myself to help it row and be competitive but for me personally helping me to develop as a manager and coach.

And FINALLY to our fans….to those that been there from the very start to those that joined most recently…THANK YOU, YOU ARE EVERYTHING TO THIS TEAM! The best thing we ever did is get this team playing in Reading so we could be at home and build a fan base in Reading and inspire the next generation! I know last season didn’t go the way we wanted it to and it is getting harder and harder to compete but stick by this team, there is some unbelievable people working behind the scenes to make sure that this team grow again and they are going to need you and your support along the way.

Once a Royal, always a Royal.”
