It’s not just signings on the pitch we’re all eager to see, Ascot United have been busy making additions off the pitch with Ricky Simons joining the club.
Following the departure of Dan Birchmore at the end of the season, the Yellas had a Club Secretary vacancy and now chairman Simon Negus has confirmed that role has been filled.
Simons announced earlier in 2023 that he was stepping down from his role at Bracknell Town where he had been Club Secretary since 2018.
Confirming the news on the Ascot website, Mr Negus wrote: “Following this review I am delighted to announce that Ricky Simons will be joining the club as Football Operations Manager & Club Secretary with immediate effect, reporting to our General Manager, Jo Gavin. Ricky will already be well known to many in the local footballing community having fulfilled a similar role at Bracknell Town for the past few years. He therefore brings a wealth of experience to the club, and will hit the ground running – he will be based at the club and so please come and say hello! Welcome to the yella-family Ricky.”
The Yellas are currently enjoying their moment in the spotlight after a brilliant FA Vase win, but attention has already switched to a first season in the Isthmian League at Step 4 after winning the Combined Counties League.
