The nomadic Berks County have found a new home.

The Swords have shared at Binfield FC for the past three seasons as their football club has risen from the Thames Valley Premier League into title challengers at Step 6.

They have now announced that they will be playing fixtures from Ascot United’s Racecourse Ground from next season.

In the past the club have called Bracknell Town, Bracknell Leisure Centre, Wokingham & Emmbrook, Binfield, Ryeish Green Sports Hub and even Sandhurst Town home.

Berks County’s traditional bases are in Bracknell and youth team in Sunninghill so it feels apt that the club should play in Ascot.

The deal will last for two seasons and will see the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Division One club play on a 3G pitch which may be a huge advantage should we have similarly poor weather next season.

Surrey Premier County club Lyne FC who had been sharing at Ascot United’s ground for the past couple of seasons are said to be looking to playing closer to home in the Addlestone area.

Berks County chairman Steve Kay said of the move: “We are delighted to announce that our men’s first team home for the next two seasons will be the Racecourse ground. This brings our senior games closer to our junior section and allows us to build a local partnershop with Ascot Untied. We equally thank Binfield for hosting us over the last three seasons.”
