It might only have been Football in Berkshire that noticed it, but there was a small addendum next to the Wokingham & Emmbrook listing when the FA published the full constitutions for step 6 two weeks ago.

The Sumas will again play in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East but when the list was published by the FA, a small ^2 was listed next to the club’s name referring to – ^2 Club allocated on condition that they play at a G Grade compliant ground until works complete.

Now, as far as we knew, Lowther Road, which re-opened last summer (when the #2 point was correct), hosted FA Vase football for the first time and won the Most Improved Ground award at the Berkshire Football Awards, was set for another season of step 6 football but the note had us worried.

However, Sumas chairman Steve Williams has put our minds at rest confirming the note was a hangover from the previous season: “They apologised, it was from last season before they were able to visit and confirm the changes at Lowther Road.”

So there we go.
