Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Binfield have confirmed a new addition to the clubs management team for the 2019/20 season.
That man is the recently retired midfielder Carl Withers who finished his career with the Moles last season after making 600 appearances at Hill Farm Lane either side of spells at Flackwell Heath and neighbours Bracknell Town.
Moles boss Roger Herridge had been looking for a new face to come and support him after a long season that certainly took a toll on the Binfield manager.
He said: “Carl Withers has so much to offer us. The season always takes its toll but in reality the management team was light. Paul Clayton had to step away mid season for personal reasons. I’ll make further announcements regarding additions to my management team next week.”

Binfield released a statement on the new appointment on the clubs Facebook page and to Football in Bracknell. It says: “We are pleased to announce that former Moles player Carl Withers has agreed to return to the club in the new role of First Team Assistant Manager.
“Regularly quoted as ‘a Rolls Royce of a midfielder’, Withs played over 600 times in a Binfield shirt over several spells at Hill Farm Lane with his 15 games last season taking him over the six century landmark.
“Carl also had spells with Flackwell Heath and most recently Bracknell Town where he helped the Robins return to step 4 and reach the Quarter Finals of the FA Vase. He also scored in the 2016/17 Berks & Bucks County Cup Final against us ending a 23 year trophy drought for the Robins.
“Carl was a big part of Binfield’s successful Hellenic League side at the beginning of the decade winning Division One East by 11 points from Ascot United and then finished eighth and second in the Premier Division in subsequent seasons.
“The same season (2011/12) the Moles finished as runners up, they lifted the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup and Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.
“Carl called time on his successful playing career during February of this year just prior to having a knee operation which he has now recovered from.”
The statement included some further quotes from Herridge who said he was delighted to add Carl to his Management team. He said: “With’s was a wonderful servant to the club during his playing days, he was a consistent performer and an integral part of the successful Binfield sides in recent times”.
He added “Once I heard that Carl was interested in moving into management, it was a no-brainer in asking him to join my Management team here. His experience and knowledge will certainly be a great help to me in the season ahead. I have no doubts that Carl with be a success in his new role, he will fit in perfectly and I am really looking forward to working with him.”
Binfield chairman Bob Bacon said: “It’s great to have one of the greats of Binfield back at the club, in the dugout, supporting Roger and the team. There is no doubt he will have an impact both on and off the field.”
