Derek Sweetman is back in football after agreeing to return as manager of Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East side Holyport.
The Summerleaze side saw Barry Rake depart last week after three seasons in charge and Sweetman has been appointed after spells as assistant manager at Ascot United and Bracknell Town.
Sweetman was part of the management team last season at Bracknell that reached the Quarter Finals of the FA Vase – losing to North East side Marske United in front of a packed Larges Lane. The team were replaced shortly after the Vase exit by Carl Davies.
Sweetman has huge non league managerial experience having previously been boss at Bracknell, Marlow, Egham Town and Slough Town amongst others and returns to Summerleaze as one of the clubs most successful former managers.
Continuity
He led Holyport during their four season stay in the Hellenic League Premier Division and won the Hellenic League Division 1 East title, Floodlit Cup and Challenge Cup during his first season in charge.
Holyport also confirmed that Matt Rolfe would continue as assistant manager along with Lee Ovens and Steve Deverall would stay as coach.
A statement from the club reads: “Top of the requirements for the new First Team Manager was the ability to help Rolfe, Ovens and Deverall develop in their roles, with 191 games previously in charge of Holyport, winning the treble and three seasons in the Hellenic Premier Division Derek certainly ticked this box for the club.”
Sweetman will go in to the season without the clubs top scorer Paul Rake who has joined Combined Counties League side Sandhurst Town.
