Wallingford Town AFC has appointed former Reading YMCA boss Glenn Goudie as their new first team manager.
Wally finished 7th in their first season back in the Hellenic League Division 1 East having stepped up from the North Berks League last summer. The club previously played in the league between 2006 and 2008 as AFC Wallingford.
Goudie takes over the helm at The Hithercroft from Duncan Mitchell who has stepped down from the role after seven years in the hot seat.
Commenting on the appointment, club Chairman Simon Cowlard said: “We are delighted to appoint Glenn to the role of first team manager. We are confident we have found the right man for the job.

“It was important to us that the new man was the right fit and had the capacity to take the club forward while also understanding and buying in to our ethos and the way we have done things here the past few seasons.
“We are moving in the right direction and want that progression to continue and believe Glenn ticks all the boxes for us, coming to us as he does with a wealth of coaching and managerial experience”.
Management team
Goudie will retain Andy Silver as his Assistant Manager who he previously worked with at Binfield, while Mitchell will remain at the club possibly in a General Manager role.
Cowlard added: “The fact that Glenn had previously worked well with Andy Silver and was eager to keep Andy in the set up was a big factor. Andy did a great job as assistant last season and ensures there is some continuity from the previous regime, which we wanted”.

Commenting on his appointment Goudie said: “I am delighted to accept the role of first team manager at Wallingford Town Football Club.
“After meeting the chairman Simon Cowlard and former manager Duncan Mitchell, I was struck by their enthusiasm and genuine love for the club. I hope to be able to play a small part in helping the club achieve success.
“The club possesses a strong junior set-up, a hardworking committee and a talented group of youth, reserve and first team players.
“Wallingford Town has fantastic facilities and I am very impressed by the hard work behind the scenes to help provide this. I look forward to meeting the players and to start work on preparing for the new season ahead”.
