Like most clubs, Football in Berkshire is always looking to bolster its ranks and as such has made two crucial close-season signings.
Some of you will be aware, Football in Berkshire was ‘formalised’ toward the end of last season – notably with the addition of a community bank account. This means that the site will become self-funding while remaining not-for-profit and was a big part of us being able to put on such a brilliant awards night.
There’ll be further developments on that front during the season but it’s very exciting for us!
As part of that former Binfield Chairman Bob Bacon has agreed to come on board and act as Football in Berkshire’s chairman. Bob’s remit will be to help us develop a plan for long-term growth and improvement of how we cover the game in Berkshire.
On joining FiB Bob said: “FiB have been supporters of the local game for a few years now, and throughout that time, the quality and coverage has risen measurably. My decision to become part of FiB was based on the quality of people and content, of which I’d like to be part of. Long live Duds.”
Additionally, FiB has appointed former Tadley Calleva programme editor Dan Walkley as our Allied Counties Youth League correspondent this season. Dan will also have a remit to keep an eye on the goings-on in West Berkshire next season.
Dan said: “I joined Football in Berkshire as I have always had a strong passion for football writing and reporting. In the past I wrote the Tadley-Calleva programme but stopped due to work commitments.
“I am excited to get to work with the FIB team as the passion, commitment and knowledge that goes into researching and writing each article is something I admire.”

We’re always keen to have more people on board, whatever your interest in the local game. If you are interested in writing, audio, video or something we haven’t even thought of yet. Drop us a message to editor@footballinbracknell.co.uk
