If you’ve grown up knowing that the transfer window only exists twice a year, then non league football will take most of us back to a time when it was more of a free for all.
Since July, we’ve been able to publish Steve Gabb’s excellent weekly round ups of all the transfers across the Hellenic League and Combined Counties League as well as catch up with Geoff Warner for all the latest from Bracknell Town.
That all ends at 5pm today when the deadline for clubs making transfers or dual registrations passes and yes, the window ‘slams shut’.
Prior to the introduction of the summer and January windows, that’s how it used to be in professional football as well. Up until a certain point, clubs could trade players all season but then around this time every year a deadline would pass to preserve the integrity of the season run-in and fight for titles and avoiding relegation.
So for Bracknell Town and clubs signing non-contract players the window closes at 5pm on Thursday 28th March 2019.
The Uhlsport Hellenic League have confirmed clubs have a little bit longer with registrations and transfers accepted until 5pm on Sunday 31st March.
So there you have it.
