Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One side Binfield are beginning the search for a new manager after Carl Withers and Jamie McClurg announced their departure.
The duo have masterminded a stellar start to the season for the Moles, conceding just one goal in all competitions and reaching the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round for the first time in the clubs history.
The pair though aren’t going far, moving up the road to managerless Bracknell Town, themselves enjoying a good start to the season but without a boss since Bobby Wilkinson’s departure to Vanarama National League South Weymouth.
A statement on the Binfield website said: “Binfield FC are disappointed to announce the departure of joint managers Carl Withers and Jamie McClurg and the First Team Coaching Support team following an approach from Bracknell Town over their vacant management position.
“The timing of this news, particularly on the back of the club’s recent success on the pitch in both league and all cup competitions where we remain unbeaten, coupled with the enormous effort by the club in supporting our move up to Step 4 football through significant investment in Ground improvements, is somewhat disappointing.”
Moles chairman Andy Cotton wished his now former managerial duo the best for the future: “We shall miss Carl and Jamie and I want to express my thanks to them both and to the coaching team for all their hard work over the past couple of seasons. I wish them the very best.”
Binfield have confirmed that former manager Roger Herridge – part of the management team this season – will take caretaker charge of the side while the search for a new manager is undertaken.
