Fran Kirby out indefinitely over health issues at Chelsea

Former Reading FC Women star Fran Kirby, born and raised in Caversham, announced on her Twitter that it’s ‘time to put my health first’ as ongoing health issues mar the Chelsea striker once more. She’s been ruled out for the foreseeable future as Emma Hayes confirmed she has been struggling with fatigue.

“I don’t have a definitive reason why that is, we don’t know but we’re trying to get to the bottom of it and taking the time we can to try and find the right solutions for Fran. This is something that’s been ongoing and unfortunately until we get to the bottom of it Fran won’t be available for selection.”

She added to her tweet with a final message of ‘But until then, I will be Chelsea & Lionesses biggest fan with you all’. This announcement means we’re unlikely to see the goalscorer at the Euros this summer as England play host to the international competition. A huge loss for the Lionesses as Kirby is a threat both in front of goal and as an assist provider.

Everyone at Football in Berkshire wishes a healthy and speedy recovery to Fran and hopes to see her back out on the pitch soon!
