Ascot United’s head coach Aaron Steadman has stepped down from his role at the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side according to a statement on twitter.

The former Maidenhead United development and youth team boss joined new manager Jamie Tompkins at Ascot last summer along with Dan Masters and persuaded a number of Magpies youngsters to join them (sourced from Maidenhead Advertiser), including Nathan Minhas who went on to join National League South side Billericay Town during the season.

Posting on twitter, Steadman said: “I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Ascot United to explore more full time opportunities. Huge thanks to Jamie Tompkins for the opportunity to come on board, great manager and a great guy!! Biggest thanks go to the players who have made it such an amazing experience.”

He added: “Also a big thanks to the board members, volunteers and the superb group of dedicated fans.”

Among Steadman’s other achievements during 2018/19, he led the Berks & Bucks FA under 18s to the South and West Counties League title with a final day win in Cornwall.

Ascot have moved quickly to confirm that manager Tompkins would remain at the club for the 2019/20 season, a move the clubs Director of Football called ‘a massive boost for the club in a period of transition’.

On Steadman’s departure, Tompkins said on www.ascotunited.net : “Aaron’s contribution, commitment and support has been a great asset, along with his drive and determination to progress and succeed, which we have done so having finished in 7th place in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, winning the League Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the Floodlit Cup this season.”
