Bracknell Town chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse has moved to explain the clubs plans for player development following the announcement the club wouldn’t field a side in the Suburban League.
A week ago Bracknell announced via the Bracknell News that the Development Team would be withdrawn from the Suburban League while the club considered it’s next move. A week earlier, Andy Findlay and Rob Creech had confirmed their departure from the club and were appointed as managers at Highmoor Ibis.
The Robins chief said to Football in Bracknell: “We will not have a reserve team next season, instead we have opted to form two close partnerships with a step 5 and step 6 club to support our youth pathway to first team football.”
The move means the club will most likely partner with local clubs in the Hellenic League and closely mirrors the model that Slough Town have successfully used over the last few seasons – dual registering players with clubs in other leagues.
The Rebels – who were promoted to the Vanarama National League South at the end of the season, have routinely dual registered players with step five clubs with Bracknell, Ascot United and Binfield amongst others all benefiting from the arrangement.
Bracknell have yet to confirm which clubs in the Hellenic League they will partner with.
What is dual registration?
Dual registration effectively means a player being able to play for two clubs. It is not a loan as such, a player could conceivably play for the parent club on Saturday’s and the recipient club on Tuesday’s.
A club can only dual register a player with a club in a different league, not a different division of the same league. In Slough’s case they were an Evo Stik Southern League (step 4) side registering players to Hellenic League clubs (step 5 and 6).
