15 years after his first debut, attacker Gavin Smith made a goalscoring return to Bracknell Town on Tuesday night as the Robins beat Hellenic League Division 1 West leaders Hook Norton 3-1 in the Floodlit Cup Third Round.
Smith originally joined the Alan Taylor revolution in the summer of 2001 and was a core part of a season that saw Bracknell promoted two divisions to Ryman League Division 1.

Primarily played in an attacking midfield role, Smith also played as a striker for Taylor as Bracknell punched above their weight for the majority of Taylor’s time in charge – and in fact captained the side on several occasions.
On leaving Bracknell, Smith played for former team mates Neil Baker and Jon Underwood at Godalming Town and was part of the promotion winning side at Windsor & Eton in 2010.
The attacker has moved across to Bracknell after a brief two game spell at Ascot United and came off the bench on Tuesday night to score in extra time for the Robins, joining another ex-Taylor player – Damien Smith – on the field.
