What a time to score your first goal for your new club. 1-0 down against the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division’s third placed side and up pops Michael Porter in the second minute of injury time with a leveller at Scours Lane.

Porter signed from AFC Aldermaston in the summer and has featured in 10 of Woodley United’s 12 league games, but has had to wait for his first goal – and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thatcham are currently third in the division having recently drawn 3-3 with title rivals Flackwell Heath and narrowly lost 2-1 to Highworth Town – the only side with a 100% record left in the division.

The visitors Thatcham took the lead on 68 minutes slightly against the run of play but looked to have done enough to earn three valuable points in their quest to return to the Evo Stik Southern League for the first time since they voluntarily dropped down in 2014.

United though had other ideas and when Porter struck it was a deserved point for the Kestrels and new manager James Anderson who has seen his side pick up four points in their last three league games.
