Binfield youth teams Allied Counties South Division promotion charge suffered a little bit of a set back on Thursday night when they were beaten by current leaders Camberley Town 3-2 at Hill Farm Lane.

Ed Lee scored both goals for the Moles in the game and assistant manager Mark Poole sent us the following report from the game.

We knew Camberley would turn up and be a very big and powerful side, we also knew they kept back all their Ryman Youth players for the game, they knew how important this game was and after how we picked them apart in the return fixture a month back.

The first half was both sides trying to find a bit about each other. We tried to use our passing ability and dynamic in the middle whilst Camberley were trying to play to their strengths of looking for a long ball over the top. Both teams managed to cancel each other out for the majority of the first half.

Eddie Lee scored our first goal, at the 20 minute mark after a nice bit of play. Eddie was a thorn in the side for most of the game and was always looking to take on his player. At half time Binfield went in at 1-0. We knew Camberley would come out a lot more aggressive and look to get the ball into our defensive third a lot quicker.

We looked to continue the good work in the first half and to keep the ball and take the sting out of the game. Camberley managed to nick one back against the run of play but Eddie Lee, who was proving to be a massive pain for the Camberley back line managed to restore the advantage from a great counter, almost running the length of the pitch!

15 minutes to go, we knew that Camberley would use their biggest weapon of the night, the long ball. Unfortunately,  we were caught out twice and we conceded our advantage. We lost and fair play to Camberley. Their game plan was efficient, maybe not best pleasing on the eye but it worked for them so congratulations.

Our attention turns to our big week this week. We have two matches this week, away to Bracknell on Tuesday and away to Cove on Thursday night.

These are two massive games, the league is still in our hands with games to catch up on. The Bracknell game looks to be a big game for them, as they are flirting in the bottom three, some may say their cup final. We always look forward to playing our local rivals and these games are always full of passion. With four games in hand now, this is business end of the season for us. We expect a massive game on Tuesday night but if we play as well as we have been playing and look to keep up our consistency, we expect a Moles victory.

In fact Thursdays game vs Cove looks to be a tougher one than Bracknell, as teams at the bottom cannot be taken for granted and we expect a tough opponent.
