Two goals in injury time gave Bracknell Town under 21s a 5-4 win over Westfield in the Suburban League Challenge Shield on Tuesday night at Larges Lane.

The score was tied at 1-1 at the break after George Short scored for the Robins, but Bracknell sped to a 3-1 lead through George Lock and Dan Roberts but allowed Westfield back in to the game and the visitors led 4-3 with full-time approaching.

Alex Ford levelled things up for the Robins and three minutes later, Roberts got his second and the winner sparking wild celebrations in the home dugout.

The result means Bracknell’s under 21s have won both Shield matches so far and top the group with maximum points after beating Hartley Wintney in the group opener.

The group winners will qualify for the semi-finals with Leatherhead the Robins only realistic challengers for a spot – the two sides will meet on 27th February in Surrey.

Post match, Robins manager Liam Day tweeted: ‘Night’s like tonight is why I love managing. One moment pulling my hair out the next ecstasy with a last minute winner’.

Next up for the Robins is the not inconsiderable challenge of Suburban Premier Division leaders Met. Police in the Quarter Finals of the Challenge Cup on Saturday at Larges Lane.
