Everything you need to know about Saturday’s Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division title showdown between Bracknell Town and Thame United.

To recap, the two key fixtures we’ll be keeping an eye on are:

  • Bracknell Town vs Highworth Town
  • Henley Town vs Thame United

Suspensions

Two key players will be missing for Bracknell in their final league game of the season. Captain Carl Davies and Jamie McClurg were both sent off in the defeat at Ardley United and will miss the game.

We’re speculating, but Mark Tallentire has options at centre back with Alex Rodrigues, Callum Whitty and Damien Smith all viable alternatives while Gavin Smith or Carl Withers could fill the hole in midfield.

Henley have incentive to win

We don’t know how many teams might get relegated – we suspect just the one, in which case a Henley win at home to Bracknell’s title rivals Thame United would lift them off the bottom of the table by virtue of goal difference ahead of Burnham’s final game in a weeks time at Tuffley Rovers.

History

If Bracknell were to win the title on Saturday, it would be their first league championship since winning the 1993/94 Isthmian League Third Division title.

That’s 23 years since the Robins last lifted a league trophy which was won in ’94 after pipping Cheshunt and Oxford City to the title – if we remember correctly thanks to a big win at Horsham on the final day.

The full ramifications

We’ve gone in to depth on what the various implications are depending on results and where the title may end up here, but in short Bracknell must win to bring the Hellenic Premier Division title to Berkshire for the first time.. something we should have put money on!!
