In the space of 90 minutes Bracknell Town went from title favourites to runners up when they lost 4-1 at Ardley United on Tuesday night.
It was a rare defeat in a 34 match campaign that has seen just four defeats for the Robins – an incredible improvement following on from last seasons escape from relegation, and they quickly got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 4-1 win at home to Longlevens.
It did though leave Thame United in the driving seat for the title after the Oxfordshire side had been on the end of their own scare – 2-0 down at bottom of the table Burnham before coming back to win 3-2 – and United sit two points ahead with two games to go.
What’s required?
Simply put, Bracknell MUST win their final two league games at Brimscombe & Thrupp and home to Highworth Town while hoping Thame United drop points at either Lydney Town or Henley Town.
IF Bracknell win both games, a draw and a win for Thame might be enough to give Bracknell the title with their current goal difference of +6.
IF though Thame win both games, they will be crowned champions and take promotion in to the Evo-Stik Southern League.
