It was a tough night all round for Thames Valley Premier League side Mortimer on Tuesday night, a 10-0 Reading Senior Cup Quarter Final defeat to Bracknell Town at Larges Lane wouldn’t have been on anyone’s mind when the two sides were drawn together.
As it was though the seventh placed side were outgunned by Bracknell’s Hellenic Premier Division leaders conceding twice in the opening 45 minutes and a further eight times in the following 45.
One man though was widely praised by both side, the Mortimer goalkeeper Geoff Perrin – who was awarded ‘man of the match’ by the villagers.
Mortimer bow out of the Reading senior Cup quarter final. Geoff Perrin man of the match. Good luck to @bracknelltownfc in the next round.

Perrin has played 17 times this season for the club he has represented for almost 10 years and almost certainly kept Bracknell from racking up an even higher score.
Long standing Robins supporter Dave Miles said on the FiB facebook page: ‘It would’ve ended up well into double figures had it not been for Mortimer’s keeper, he played a blinder in the first half.’
Ben Martin-Dye tweeted: ‘Top draw Bracknell Town 10-0 tonight and the Mortimer FC keeper had a blinder!’

Our own Darrell Freeland posted about the game: ‘Bearing in mind Bracknell are top of step 5 and Mortimer are step 7 it was always going to be difficult. Bracknell have players with step 3 and 4 experience too’
While Steve Gabb said: ‘A home side full of excellent Step 5 players and a few who should really be playing Step 4 on a 3G pitch vs a Thames Valley Premier side. Not really a fair match-up.’
Bracknell Town will face the winners of the Wokingham & Emmbrook vs Henley Town semi-final. The full Reading Senior Cup semi-final draw is here.
