Hopefully not. But Woodley United’s trip to Headington Amateur’s has been postponed this weekend in the opening round of Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East fixtures.
There was a full programme due this weekend with division new boys Sandhurst Town and AFC Aldermaston in action while Finchampstead and Wokingham & Emmbrook are both raring to go.
United though will have to wait another week after Headington’s ground was double booked with an athletics competition.
We understand that the game was originally scheduled as a home tie for Woodley, but United’s landlords Highmoor-IBIS are themselves at home in the shared Scours Lane facility in Reading.
Amateurs tweeted a brief statement about the game saying ‘we have been let down by Oxford City Council’ and have apologised to Woodley United.
Unfortunately we have been let down by @OxfordCity council and we have no pitch ready for Saturday! Therefore our game on Sat is postponed!
